چکیده

Cell transdifferentiation of somatic cells directly into desirable cells has sprung up in recent years, which also has provided an alternative cell source for cell therapy in regenerative medicine, comparing with cell reprogramming. However, the conventional strategy for generating target cells through transdifferentiation was mainly based on viruses expressing exogenous transcription factors, which was unavoidably related with safety issues when translated into clinical application. Small molecules with more advantages in manipulating cell fate changes has attracted attentions of researchers in regenerative medicine. Especially the advent of chemicallyinduced pluripotent stem cells [1] opens a new era of regeneration and later kindles the light of pursuing diverse chemical cocktails in generating different types of cells, which we refer to as chemical transdifferentition.

Materials and Metabolites of Kynureinine Pathway in Neurodegenerative Diseases and Multiple Sclerosis

Abstract Background & aim: Kynurenine pathway (KP) plays an important role in the pathogenesis of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative disorders. In neurodegenerative diseases (NDD) such as Parkinson's disease (PD), Alzheimer's disease (AD), Huntington's disease (HD) and Multiple sclerosis (MS), brain neurons are initially involved and gradually disappear. In the present review article, the ...

Progress in the reprogramming of somatic cells.

Pluripotent stem cells can differentiate into nearly all types of cells in the body. This unique potential provides significant promise for cell-based therapies to restore tissues or organs destroyed by injuries, degenerative diseases, aging, or cancer. The discovery of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) technology offers a possible strategy to generate patient-specific pluripotent stem cells...

In vitro Transdifferentiation of Bone Marrow Stromal Cells into GABAergic-Like Neurons

Background: Cell therapy of many neurodegenerative diseases using bone marrow stromal cells (BMSC) requires the differentiation of BMSC into neuronal subtype. However, the transdifferentiation of BMSC into GABAergic phenotype requires more investigation. Methods: In this study, BMSC of adult female rats were pre-induced into neuroblast-like cells using 1 mM β-mercaptoethanol (βME) and 10 M re...
